- “MACBETHMACBETHMACBETHMACBETH”
- Some witches just havin a good time tell Macbeth and Banquo that they’re going to have it all and the boys get excited.
- The witches are described as having beards but appearing female which in the day that I’m consuming this, is a harmful message. It’s transphobic, first of all, but also insists that evil women are necessarily “ugly”, giving a pass to all the evil women who fit within society’s beauty standards.
- In order for Lady Macbeth to accept her evil tasks, she asks supernatural forces to strip her of her womanhood and “unsex” her, once again enforcing that women can’t naturally be evil and that there’s something universally gentle about women unless they’re witches.
- Notice how there’s no corresponding wizard or devil character for Macbeth to call upon. As a man, he has sense to rebel against murder but also to embrace it without needing to “unsex” or appear as a woman. In fact, it’s only when he starts panicking that he compares himself to a woman, and this is what Lady Macbeth asked for protection from.
- Macbeth gets in it deep, killing Duncan so he can become king, and killing Banquo because he wants royal offspring. And hell, he’s lucky each time because there’s necessarily someone to blame and everyone around him accepts it.
- Hecate reprimands the witches for leaving her out?? Or something?
- Macbeth can’t kill a man without seeing a ghost and his wife is just like, “oh don’t worry he just gets like that sometimes, haha…HONEY STOP, YOU’RE EMBARRASSING US.”
- Macbeth wants MORE PROPHESIES
- Lady MacDuff and her Son are amusing through their brief appearance.
- I don’t know why people find “What, you egg?” more jarring than “He’s killed me, mother!”
- Malcolm really just told Macduff to bear his family’s murder “like a man.”
- Don’t you hate it when you sleepwalk out your crimes n guilt???
- Macbeth’s servant being named Seyton made me laugh.
- Lady Macbeth offs herself, the first sign that things are crashing hard.
- Sure does suck when your prophecy comes to an end cuz the woods are moving and MacDuff’s mum had a C-section
- Look, if you’re given a magical fortune that has fine text about being overthrown if x or y conditions are met, give up right there!! It’s some metaphor shit!! Hoes always trap you with the metaphors!!!
